Opposites in all things

What if the whole idea isn't for all of us to agree all of the time?
What if "opposition in all things" isn't always a separation of good vs. evil, but a a system of checks and balances? More like "opposites in all things"
As our country is ripping itself asunder from the inside, what if the very thing tearing us apart, is the thing that God blessed us with to do the most good?
No political party is perfect. No opinion is without it's fallacies.
The 'bleeding heart progressive' can and should be countered with the 'bottom line spending conservative' while that same soft heart reminds the brain that there are other matters beyond making money.
There is a need for both capitalist and socialist systems. A purely capitalist society cannot become united and whole if there isn't a bigger stake in it that includes everyone.  A purely socialist society becomes a drain on itself and history teaches that it doesn't work when left to the devices of man.
We need the brilliance of both sides of the spectrum to work together and to make compromises.  We need to stop blaming the other guy, take responsibility for ourselves, and move forward together.
Remember how back in the day we learned that in Japan they had to have commercials to teach their children how to play with dolls?  There was this untapped buying potential of thousands of little girls, but they didn't know what to do with dolls and so parents didn't buy them.
That's what our media is doing today. With all of its talking heads and very loud voices, it is teaching us how to respond to and relate to those who feel and think differently from us.  There is no kindness or valuing of another valid opinion. There is no accepting of responsibility and true apology and repentance.  There is only yelling and finger pointing.
How well does that work in your family?
How well does that work in your marriage?
Why are we allowing it to color our country and our view of our neighbors? It's like there is a beautiful coloring page and a toddler scribbled all over it with a black sharpie.  Because he can.
There are many things that I don't agree with going on in our country right now.  Fundamentally, down to my core, I don't like them or agree with them.  That doesn't mean I have the right to demean anyone else who does support these things.  I may not understand, but I must be kind. In the spirit of the golden rule, I would expect that to be reciprocated.  Because we can.  We've just been convinced to forget that it's possible.
