Saturday:
We become more Christ-like when we pay attention to those around us and bear their burdens.
Service to others heals us.
Believe in the peace of the Lord. "Let" peace rule. Our will is involved in a peaceful life. *(side note. I kept nudging Dan telling him that I knew this lady from somewhere. Today when I saw her with her husband, I realized we'd been in CERT class together about 6 years ago. It made me cry a little to realize that they'd joined the church in the ensuing years and were now my brother and sister in the gospel.)
If we are faithful, our trials will be consecrated for our gain.
Life is not about what happens, it is about the experience and what it does for us.
*Learn to manage my time better so that I am free to meet the needs of others.
*I needed to hear the sister speak who went through the strep infection that overtook her body. I needed it because I remember when she went through it. Dan came home from a meeting where we were asked to fast and pray for her. We went to her blog and I followed the entries until I just couldn't stand it any more. She didn't mention last night that she died a couple of times and they just kept bringing her back. I couldn't understand it. I would rather die. I'm not afraid of death. I am afraid that Dan wouldn't marry so well again, but I know that it's just a part of life. It could be that I'm not strong enough to change myself into the person she is, but I would just rather not stay here like that. But now I understand why she wanted to be here. The choice was hers and she made it. I wrote in my notes: Learn, Jill, learn!!! Heavenly Father doesn't need you to be right, He doesn't need your opinion or how you would do it. What He needs, and what those around you need, is your help.
God made you you, and that was exactly His intent.
Do not define yourself by worldly standards.
President Rodarte closed by hoping that the words spoken would change a life. I hope so, too.
Sunday:
Service heals us.
I am diligence. *I loved this. I know the Tongan sister meant to write this as the adjective diligent. Making it a noun changes it. It's not an attribute anymore. It is the person.
Our temple covenants seal us to the Lord.
Never shut the door to your home or heart to your children.
Your children need to see you praying as a couple and giving thanks when in trials.
Prayer, Family Home Evening, and Family Counsel.
Tithing as a testimony is a must for children
Strengthen family, ward, stake, and community with work and a cause.
*You may have gotten this, but these are my thoughts VS what I heard.
